For years (long before they were trendy) I started collecting bird houses......I have every size, shape, & color-over 350(I stopped counting) scattered through the house and yard. I had at one time collected Swans & you should see my collection of Macaw "stuff". I have always been a bird lover......2 of my grandmothers were and I think I got it from them.
I have many feeders right outside my window and really enjoy the Hummingbirds I get every spring. I do have a flower garden.....although it looks like a jungle, all flowers planted are for the visiting birds and are in no order or perfect rows and layers. It really does look like a jungle, but the birds don't care, it makes them happy. A friend of mine is a Master Gardener( see Pleasant Grove Campground Photos), she just shakes her head<G>.

We started going to Cades Cove and The Great Smoky Mountians back in the early 1970's. The first time we saw the cove, our hearts were drawn to that place as if we had belonged there in another time and place. The view was breath taking. Then we decided to learn more about the "Mountian" people .
We purchased all the books we could find and walked the grounds where many families, toiled, laughed, cried, raised a family. Through the years we feel we are a part of that great place. Yes, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge is great, but we love Cades Cove more with her beautiful views and all the great history that Cades Cove beholds. Also See The Page I Made Just For Cades Cove
We have been blessed to meet the most wonderful people because of our love we had for Cades Cove. I could go on & on about that place, but I don't want to take up more of your time. Later I will list the books that I have about Cades Cove.

So much Of Our History Is Lost, Torn Down, Or Just Thrown Away No Matter Where One Lives. As A Family Researcher( I have not found any I could connect with yet) I am Proud To Be A Part Of This Great Preservation That Is Preserving What Remains Of Those Families That Lived In Cades Cove.
Note: The first white settlement in Cades Cove was the early 1800's (1818-1937). Some decsendants were there until the Cove was turned into a National Park.
My Mother Elizabeth Ann Hughes had on her frig for years a saying that she really liked.....I like it too. I have that piece of paper with her own hand writing that says:
